Just came up with another idea.
Shouldn't Valerie be accompanied with 3 companions throughout the game? And maybe, if the player makes certain decisions... it can actually kill one of her companions off?

They will be members of the Special Forces and such.

From a coding and dialogue and technically possible etc point of view that would take a love load of work I'm guessing. I mean we would end up needing hundreds of different cutscenes etc.

As a gamer I personally I'm fed up of consequences every game these days is all "your actions will have consequences" I don't want my actions to have Prancing consequences, my real life has consequences. I want an amazing story and some fun.

Could work, but then it's more AI, and AI can end up going crap.

^^ To be fair it's less about the AI, it's more the fact that after every possible death we would then need to create an ever increasing number of cut-scenes. Or if we have any in game dialogue, we would need to record this and then create a fairly complex set of algorithms to choose which dialogue patterns to play. And ultimately we would need 8(?) different ending cut-scenes.

How about we disregard the "choices" aspect and have a straight unchangable storyline?

I still think it would be nice to have AI companions. Could make the game more interesting.

Yeah companions are good - I even mentioned it in my summary thing Razz. It was decided that they wouldn't be there when she first enters the world as she needs to be by herself, but after that it can vary.

All of this reminds me of The Longest Journey: Dreamfall. It includes a sort of other dimension- with a female lead- called Zoe. She's amazing.

I would looove for the game to go in the same direction as that- but a lot more dark, and sinister. We need a one post- with all of the games information in it. Just incase I'm/or others are missing bits, or whatever.

Well, I haven't got much to say in ideas for the script, but I would like to ask if I can be a "co-story writer, or director"? If it is needed.

I just only recently came up with an idea for a tutorial. does anyone want to hear it?

Also (I know it doesn;t belong in this section) have any of you thought up of some neat gameplay mechanics? I feel as if they don't have to re-create the wheel, but be different from your average from FPS. Like what you have posted on TRF.

Um, not really. I tend to be busy with schoolwork a lot around now, due to exams, and any times I'm not doing anything I just want to relax. I won't be available during July, but people are still welcome to create.

Okay, I hope this forum becomes active again. It can't just die like that.

And here is my idea for a tutorial.

Valerie Rae come's off of an elevator into the "Underground *Instert special forces name* training grounds." (The elevator idea is somewhat similar to Portal and the actual tutorial I have in mind is similar to that of the first Half-Life) she is greeted by the "Training escort" from one of the intercom's. (He is in a control room monitoring Valerie)
he guides Valerie via intercom. The tutorial envolves simple actions such as running, jumping, climbing, crawling etc.
Then there is the weapon test. Simply target practice with synthetic enemies which have the *special forces names* emblem on it. Once we think of some gameplay mechanics, this part can have more depth, but as of now it is simply shoot the target's down.
After Valerie is about to reach "The most important aspect of your training" An emergency alram sounds within the training grounds. The training escort then says that the training must end for now. Valerie is then told to leave as there has been an important call for her to head to the bay.

Valerie then enters the exit elevator, taking her back up to ground level. As the door opens the actual game starts.

What do you think?

Chris (LegendaryLoL) is on a trip for 2 weeks, but I'll send the others PMs. As far as I'm aware, Dale started making a mock-up building for a level.

Hello, sorry my exams finished the other day, and well having been on a downer from probably failing it wasn't my first priority to come check the forums. In the middle of a theatre production at the moment, plus I have beef with my headmaster about slashing my school magazine budget, and so have loads to do for that. Whilst also trying to put together a film portfolio to get into uni. But yeah when I get free time.

I'm not sure if Dale went any further then what I saw, which was an exterior. I'm not sure if I can get you one.

Don't worry about it. One of the understandings you have to come in here with is that we still have the free-time-eater that is school.
